February Writing Prompts for Kids | Grades K-3
Make daily writing time a fun, no-prep activity for your students with these daily writing prompts for the month of February.
The included prompts are inspired by February holiday and events including:
- Valentine's Day
- Black History Month
- Groundhog Day
- National Pizza Day
- National Inventors Day
- Random Acts of Kindness Day
- National Fairy Tale Day
Designed specifically for kids in kindergarten through grade 3, these worksheets get students thinking and writing about a variety of relevant topics.
Students will work on a variety of writing forms including:
- Opinion statements
- Short stories
- A list
- A card
Most of the worksheets include space for a picture as well as a relevant word bank.
For the short stories, students are asked to include a beginning, middle, and an end. There is also room for a title and a picture. Where applicable, students are encouraged to use transition words and a list of suggested words is included in the bundle.
You will receive the files both as printable worksheets (38 pages) and as a Google Slides doc (30 pages, non-editable).
The writing prompts included in this product are suitable for grades K-3. Some kindergarten students will not be ready to complete these worksheets on their own and will need to dictate to a parent, teacher, or older helper.
Prompts and assignments can be adapted as needed to make them more suitable for your particular students. For example, if you're working with older students, use the Google slides and have them respond on regular ruled paper (or on laptops) rather than on the wide-ruled worksheet paper.
